story revision of 2nd idea.
Hi everyone, I have spent a couple of hours revising the 2nd idea. Let me know what you think:
Int: House
Dave gets ready and leaves house.
Mother standing in the doorway arms crossed.
Dave gestures 'wot!?'
Ext: Outside House
Dave walks down the road.
He pulls out engagement ring box from inside his pocket.
Smiles and puts it back again.
Ext: In town, night
Meets Katie and is all over her.
They walk together.
Daves arm is round Katie.
They walk past 2 gay builders
Katie wolf whistles.
Dave Frowns at Katie. She goes "What?!!' (flirtacious and teasing)
They go to the club.
Stopped on the door by bouncer.
Dave gives him ID.
Bouncer gives Dave a suspicious look.
Dave is worried/nervous "what..?"
Bouncer lets Dave in.
Int: Busy Club Scene
Dave goes to buy drinks
Bar man gestures to a selection of drinks
Daves turns and sees Katie getting off with another guy (Henson.)
Storms over angrily looking at Henson.
The Henson guy smiles cockily "What..?!"
Dave punches him.
Int: Hospital. Day
Daves in bandages, Mother shaking head next to him.
Dave wakes up. Looking at his hands "whaa..att.." (what happened)
Looks to the side and sees that the ring has gone out of the box with the word WTF!?!
scrawled on a note inside the box.
Ext: Wedding. Day
We see ring as its put on Katies finger by Henson. And the married couple Kiss.
Int: Hospital. Day
The scene transits to a newspaper image handed to Dave by his Mother.
Dave goes WHAAAAATTTTTTT!??????

Feedback from Derek:
The whats must be more organic and intrinsic in the story.
Use different whats. At the moment every ‘what’ we use seems to portray an element of surprise. We need to use whats that have more meaning/context and allow them to portray different expressions (teenage grumpiness, intimidation, happiness etc..)
The whats could reflect an element of his personality/age. Is he an ambitious go-getter – or letting the world pass him by?.....
What we are thinking:
1. Keep original story but adjust the situations to allow for other kinds of whats. (ie. Replace teenager surprising bar drinkers by stealing there drink with a teenager being grumpy and shouting ‘wot’ at someone.)
2. A new idea that Sam, Ryan and I came up with earlier taking a single night out situation with Dave:
Dave Leaves house
Mothers Arms Crossed
Dave gestures ‘Wot??’
Follows girl by the hand playfully
Sees lesbians kissing. Dave stops.
Gets slapped by girlfriend.
Dave : ‘What?!!” (cheeky)
They go into bar/club.
Stopped at door by bouncer
Gives up ID Bouncer gives Dave a suspicious look.
Dave is worried/nervous “what…?”
Bouncer lets Dave in.
Goes to buy drinks
Bar man gestures to selection of drinks “what”
Looks over – sees girlfriend being kissed on the cheek
Storms over Angrily looking at boy whose just kissed girlfriend
The guy goes what?
Dave punches him.
Hospital. Dave in bandages.
Painfully ‘whhaaattttt’
We must also somehow portray to the audience that the guy that kissed Daves girlfriend is the girlfriends cousin.
At the moment we are going with the 1st idea/original story, which we will have to make adjustments too. We will see what happens tomorrow after pitching (or before...)

Story revised
Here is our most up to date story:
1: Pregnant lady. A cut away of an ultrasound image shows baby in an athletic 'ready to race' stance (possibly wearing trainers.)
2: Baby born. Pops out and runs out of the hospital room. Doctors: "Whatttt!???"
3: Baby is now a Toddler, he runs through play room.
4: Runs through the hallway as a small child possibly chasing a cat towards front door.. Cats head turns around and meows/hisses. Subtitles: What!?
5: Teenager on the other side runs away from house. Runs past bar. Some people sitting on a table outside.. Steals one of their beers. People : "Whhhhhhhhaaaaaaaat?" He drinks some beer, pours some over himself then throws it behind him.
6: As he's running he spots two lesbians on the other side of the road (possibly kissing or just holding hands) he turns his head as he runs : "whaatt....!"
7: Bashes into a lampost stumbles around it as the lampost transtitions us into the backstage of a gig. By now hes turned into a man. He runs onto the stage and dives into the crowd. Crowd surfs.
8: Crowd fades away revealing the sky. He starts falling. A sky diving instructor comes into shot falling next to him. Hands Dave a parachute pack and instructs him on how to operate it (we just see mouth moving but no words due to the sound of the wind) Dave reacts "WHHAAATTTT??" Turning into an older man as he falls.
9: Falls into someone elses grave at a funeral. (Could replace a corpse inside flipping the corpse into trajectory flight) The crowd reacts 'Whatt!!?'
This story is a workable process so if anyone has any new ideas or thinks that bits should be changed let us all know...
